A small group of us ate here and we all absolutely adored it. The cakes were spectacular and the coffee drinker of the group said it was his favourite coffee of our visit to Hamburg. The owner is also absolutely lovely, very friendly, kind and open. I would absolutely return and so would everyone else in the group.

This is my second home haha. They have the best cheesecake and butter croissant in the whole wide world . The breakfast menu is limited but that doesn’t bother me. The staff is friendly and also the cafe is located in a nice neighbourhood.

Here’s the refined version: It's odd to me that people complain about the very things that define this place! Honestly, if you don't like how it works, you shouldn't go there. This is a local café where regulars know the drill: you order, collect your order, and find a table yourself—wherever you like. That's what gives it its cosy, intimate vibe. Yes, you’ll need to queue for the freshly baked pies straight from the oven, but that’s just how things are run here. These aren't negatives; they're part of its charm. I can’t speak for others, but I’ve always had a good experience with the lady who takes orders. She may seem serious, but she’s always been friendly and chatty with us. I don’t speak German, but she kindly explained how the café works in great English. I visit Hamburg once or twice a year and always make time for this place, at least once or twice per trip. The pies are pure heaven, especially with the optional cream topping!

Best cake in the neighborhood, always fresh baked and unique in taste. People are friendly. Is constantly crowded (only minute though)
